Video: Popular Enugu Politician Ukwueze Assassinated by Gunmen

In a shocking incident on Friday night, popular Enugu politician Ejike Ukwueze was brutally shot and killed by gunmen in Neke Odenigbo, located in the Enugu East Local Government Area. The attack, which left Ukwueze’s vehicle riddled with bullet holes, has sent waves of fear and uncertainty through the local community.

A viral video circulating on social media depicts the aftermath of the shooting, showing multiple bullet holes in Ukwueze’s car, a grim testament to the violence that claimed his life. Ukwueze was a prominent political figure in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, stepping into the political arena following the death of his older brother, Chijioke Ukwueze, a former member of the Enugu Assembly who tragically passed away in 2020 during a plenary session.

Sources close to the Ukwueze family suggest that the killing was politically motivated, hinting at a possible assassination. With the upcoming October local government elections, Ejike Ukwueze had been emerging as a significant contender and a powerful influence in Isi-Uzo politics. “He was becoming a force to be reckoned with, standing in for his late brother, who was one of the most respected political figures in Isi-Uzo,” a family confidant revealed.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Enugu State police authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
