Video: Police Arrest 20-Year-Old for Alleged Killing of Kogi University Student for Rituals
The Nigerian Police have arrested 20-year-old Jeremiah Samson for the alleged murder of Damilola, a 19-year-old student of the Federal University, Lokoja, in Kogi State. The suspect, from Kaduna South, is accused of kidnapping, killing, and dismembering the victim in what is believed to be a ritual-related crime.
The arrest was confirmed by the Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday. According to Police Public Relations Officer William Aya, Samson had initially kidnapped Damilola and demanded a ransom of N400,000 from her parents, which was paid in full. Despite receiving the ransom, Samson reportedly went on to strangle the victim, dismember her body, and bury the remains in a shallow grave.
During interrogation, Samson confessed to reaching out to a herbalist known as “Arab Money” through Facebook to perform rituals. He also admitted to killing Damilola after she tried to escape captivity in the Felele area of Lokoja.
Police have since exhumed Damilola’s body, along with another decayed corpse, from a bush near an NNPC filling station in Felele. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have confirmed that Samson will face charges in court upon its completion.
