Video: “If I Knew 15 Would Bring This Attention, I Would’ve Said 12” – Speed Darlington Defends Controversial Claim Amid Backlash
Nigerian singer Speed Darlington has sparked outrage following a disturbing statement made during an Instagram live session, where he claimed to have slept with a 15-year-old virgin.
Facing intense backlash, the controversial entertainer returned to Instagram with a defiant response, saying he would have mentioned an even younger age if he had known the reaction would be this intense.
“If I knew 15 would have brought me this attention, I would have said 12,” he said.
He went on to claim that the criticism is rooted in regional bias, alleging that he’s being targeted because he’s from Southern Nigeria. He argued that such outrage would not surface if he were from Sokoto, referencing child marriage practices in parts of Northern Nigeria.
“It is because I am in Southern Nigeria. Would you come at me if we were in Sokoto? You would never disrespect me like this,” he added.
His comments have been widely condemned, sparking fresh debates on child protection, cultural double standards, and the need for stricter enforcement of laws against sexual abuse.
