Video: Blackface Accuses Shallipopi of Song Theft
Nigerian dancehall artist Ahmedu Obiabo, known as Blackface, has accused fellow musician Shallipopi of copying one of his songs. Blackface took to Instagram to share a video comparing his track “Enemy Plan Enemy Fail” with “ASAP” from Shallipopi’s latest album “Shakespopi.”
Blackface expressed frustration over the situation, questioning whether Nigerian artists cannot create music without replicating his sound or melody. He sarcastically stated, “Okay, I don made remix for una so make una better abandon this una project,” suggesting Shallipopi should halt his project due to the alleged infringement.
This is not the first time Blackface has made such claims. In October, he accused Olamide of copyright infringement, alleging that the YBNL boss has stolen several songs over his career. He also stated that Asake sampled his song “Ikebe Super” in “Joha.”
Blackface criticized the artists for not reaching out to him regarding the purported use of his work. In 2022, he also accused Wizkid and Burna Boy of sampling his music without providing proper credit.
