Veritas University Student Dies During Gym Workout, Parents Suspect Negligence

A 100-level computer science student at Veritas University, Abuja, Joshua Èjuojo Daniel-Ejigbo, died while exercising at the campus gymnasium on Tuesday night, prompting suspicions of foul play from his family.

The event took place around 9 pm, when the student reportedly began foaming at the mouth and subsequently collapsed. The university administration contacted Joshua’s father around 11 pm to inform him of the incident, which had by then turned fatal.

Dr. Sanni Bil-hissan, a representative of Veritas University, confirmed the death in a statement on Wednesday. While the university is investigating the circumstances surrounding the student’s death, a human rights lawyer, Mr. Deji Adeyanju, representing the student’s family, voiced their concerns about possible foul play and gross negligence. “The parents of the deceased student suspect foul play and gross negligence,” he told said.

The university has not yet released an official report detailing the events leading up to the student’s collapse, and the investigation is ongoing. The death has sparked concerns among students and parents about safety protocols at the university gym and general student welfare on campus.

As details continue to emerge, SK Blog will keep you updated on the progress of the investigation and any developments regarding the family’s suspicions of foul play.
