US Secret Service Shoots Armed Man Near White House in Early Morning Incident
A man was shot by the US Secret Service following an armed confrontation just blocks from the White House early Sunday morning, March 9. The incident took place near the intersection of 17th Street and F Street NW, an area only a five-minute walk from the presidential residence.
Prior to the encounter, DC police had issued alerts about a “suicidal individual” believed to be traveling from Indiana. Authorities later located the suspect’s vehicle near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is adjacent to the White House.
According to Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, officers approaching the vehicle were met with the man brandishing a firearm, leading to an armed confrontation. Secret Service agents discharged their weapons during the exchange.
No injuries were reported among law enforcement officers. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, but his condition has not been disclosed. The Secret Service has confirmed that the man’s status remains unknown at this time.
