US President Trump Diagnosed with Vein Condition Following Concerns Over Swollen Legs

US President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a vein condition that affects circulation in the legs, the White House confirmed Thursday. The diagnosis follows public concern after visible swelling in the president’s lower limbs and bruising on one hand were noted during recent appearances.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the 79-year-old president underwent a series of diagnostic vascular studies, including bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds, which confirmed the condition. She described chronic venous insufficiency as benign and common in older adults, particularly those over the age of 70.

Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when vein valves in the legs are weakened or damaged, disrupting the normal flow of blood back to the heart. This often leads to symptoms such as swelling, cramping, and varicose veins. The condition is estimated to affect around 150,000 Americans annually, with aging being a key risk factor.

Despite the diagnosis, the White House emphasized that President Trump remains in good overall health. Leavitt confirmed that there was no sign of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease, and that all test results were within normal limits. The president’s heart and kidney functions were also reported as normal, with no signs of heart failure or systemic illness.

Addressing the bruising observed on the president’s hand, Leavitt explained it was consistent with minor soft tissue irritation due to frequent handshaking and the routine use of aspirin, which the president takes as part of his cardiovascular health regimen.

The condition is being managed conservatively, with medication and routine monitoring. According to the White House, no surgical intervention is required.
