US Embassy Issues New Visa Guidelines for Nigerian Applicants
The United States Embassy has introduced updated requirements for Nigerian immigration visa applicants with interviews scheduled from January 1, 2025, onwards. Applicants will now be required to visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice as part of the visa application process.
The announcement was made via the embassy’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, emphasizing that the new process aims to improve preparation for visa interviews and minimize delays.
The first visit will involve an “In-Person Document Review” with a consular officer. According to the embassy, this step ensures applicants have all required documents for their interview and provides an opportunity to address any missing paperwork in advance.
The second visit will be the visa interview itself, scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC). Applicants who fail to complete the document review before their scheduled interview will need to reschedule their appointment, the embassy warned.
