US Airstrikes: Why No Terrorist Remains Were Found — Defence Minister

Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd), has addressed questions over the absence of physical remains following recent United States airstrikes against terrorist targets in Nigeria.

In an interview on Arise Television’s *Prime Time* programme on Thursday, Musa explained that the advanced nature of the weapons used, including Tomahawk missiles, made recovery of bodies impossible.

“They wouldn’t know, because the way they were neutralised, you wouldn’t see anything. It’s a new kind of weapon that was used, the Tomahawks,” he said.

Responding to reports that some missiles failed to detonate, Musa said such outcomes were part of military tactics. “That is all part of the tactics. In conflict attack, you deceive your enemy. Those are all part of it,” he noted.

The defence minister confirmed that the operations achieved their objectives and promised continued progress. “At least Nigerians are seeing the results, and they will see more things coming ahead,” he said.

Musa also revealed that while the US conducted its operations, Nigerian forces were carrying out coordinated attacks on other targets. “As we speak, the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Navy and the Army were also neutralising a lot of other areas. In fact, from within January, a lot has been achieved,” he added.
