Unstoppable Usyk: Ukrainian Champion Defeats Fury Again to Retain Titles

Oleksandr Usyk has once again proven his dominance in the heavyweight division, defeating Tyson Fury by unanimous decision to retain his unified titles. The rematch, held in the early hours of Sunday at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marked the second time in 2024 that the Ukrainian champion bested Fury.

The judges unanimously scored the fight 116-112 in favor of Usyk, solidifying his place as one of the greatest boxers of his generation. The victory comes months after their first encounter in May, where Usyk won via split decision, handing Fury his first professional loss and becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.

Much like their first fight, Usyk outpaced Fury with relentless punches and strategic bodywork. Despite Fury’s size advantage and power, the British fighter struggled to keep up with Usyk’s speed and precision. Fury made his presence felt early, landing a powerful strike in the opening round that briefly rocked Usyk. However, the Ukrainian remained composed and stuck to the tactics that had brought him success previously.

Usyk’s barrage of body shots wore Fury down as the rounds progressed. In the sixth round, a sharp overhand left from Usyk found its mark on Fury’s forehead, signaling the Ukrainian’s growing control of the fight. Fury responded with a strong left hook in the seventh, momentarily unsettling his opponent, but Usyk quickly regained momentum. The Ukrainian champion pressed forward relentlessly in the later rounds, leaving Fury visibly fatigued.

The victory extends Usyk’s undefeated professional record to 23 wins, further cementing his legacy as one of boxing’s elite.
