University Student Dies Weeks After Admission, Neighbors Recall Final Moments
Violet Mokobi Nyabicha, a 19-year-old student at Rongo University, Kenya, tragically passed away just weeks after beginning her studies. The Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics student was found unconscious in her hostel room at Paradise Hostel and rushed to the university clinic, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Neighbors recounted the events leading up to her death. One said Violet had left her room carrying a bucket, apparently to pour water. Upon her return, the door was left open, and sounds resembling a struggle were heard. When neighbors entered, she appeared to be unconscious and was struggling to breathe. A strong smell in the room led some to suspect a possible gas leak.
The room was reportedly wet, with buckets overturned, and Violet was found lying on her bed with her head hanging off the edge. Another neighbor discovered a handwritten note on her table that suggested someone may have been responsible for her death. The note reportedly read: “Please, please, please. He is the cause.”
University authorities have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding Violet’s untimely death.
