University of Jos Student Arrested for Killing and Burying Colleague in Shallow Grave
A 23-year-old University of Jos student has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for allegedly killing and burying a fellow student in a shallow grave inside his room at Rusau village, Jos North Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, a 300-level student, allegedly attacked and fatally injured 22-year-old Peter Mata Mafurai at his residence. The incident came to light following a distress call received by the police at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Officers from the Laranto Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, responded to the call and arrested Timmap at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Timmap had buried the victim in a shallow grave within his room. The victim’s remains were exhumed and taken to Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The suspect remains in police custody as authorities continue their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing.
