Gboyega Odubanjo, aged 27, was last spotted at the Shambala festival in the Kelmarsh region of Northamptonshire. Scheduled to perform later that day, he was reported missing as festival-goers and organizers were unable to locate him.
Described by police as approximately 5ft 6in tall, Odubanjo is recognized by his distinctive short black dreadlocks and a full-face beard. He is typically seen wearing glasses and was last observed wearing a beige/cream bucket hat, a red and white striped gilet, black trousers, and dark shoes.
Hailing from the Bromley area of London, Gboyega Odubanjo’s disappearance has triggered a call for public assistance. The Northamptonshire Police issued a statement urging anyone with information to immediately contact them via the emergency number 999 or through the non-emergency line 101. Individuals providing information should reference the case with the identifier MPD1/2619/23.
The police’s statement implored Odubanjo to reach out to authorities or his loved ones if he came across their appeal, emphasizing the need to confirm his safety and well-being.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Hertfordshire, Odubanjo contributes as an editor for notable publishing platforms like Bad Betty Press and Bath Magg, a poetry magazine. His literary accolades include the Poetry Business New Poets prize in 2020, awarded to his pamphlet “Aunty Uncle Poems.”
Relatives of the missing poet expressed deep concern for his welfare, highlighting that his disappearance is entirely uncharacteristic of his nature. In a heartfelt statement, they described Gboyega as a beloved and caring son with a warm personality, infectious smile, and a heart full of kindness.
As the search effort continues, the literary and artistic community holds its collective breath, hoping for the safe return of the talented poet whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the world of poetry.
