Two Zamfara APC Lawmakers Defect to PDP
The Zamfara chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party announced on Thursday that two members of the state House of Assembly have left the All Progressives Congress to join its ranks. Publicity secretary Halliru Andi confirmed in Gusau that Sulaiman Hassan-Bosko of Mafara I and Nura Dahiru of Birnin Magaji formally crossed over after notifying the assembly.
Andi said the lawmakers attributed their decision to growing internal conflict and what they described as poor leadership within the APC in Zamfara. He explained that both legislators viewed the PDP as a more stable platform and were drawn by Governor Dauda Lawal’s approach to governance, especially in areas of security, infrastructure, and transparency.
The party said the arrival of the two lawmakers strengthens its position in the state and reflects increasing public confidence in its ability to deliver development. It also pledged full support and integration for the new members.
Earlier in the day, Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail read the lawmakers’ defection letters during the assembly’s plenary session, formally completing their move to the PDP.
