Two Students Crushed to Death by Speeding SUV in Abuja
Two students of Government Secondary School, Yangoji in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, lost their lives on Tuesday after they were struck by a moving vehicle while returning home from school.
Eyewitness accounts say the incident occurred at about 2:54 p.m. when a Toyota Lexus SUV with registration number PJHR 943 reportedly left its lane and hit the students who were walking along the roadside after school closing hours.
The driver is said to have been travelling at high speed before losing control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and hit the victims. The identities of the deceased students had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.
Two other students were also injured in the crash and were taken to Kwali General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
A Federal Road Safety Corps official confirmed the incident, stating that the vehicle struck the students after the driver lost control while speeding.
He added that the bodies of the deceased had been released to their families for burial, while both the driver and the vehicle have been transferred to the Kwali Police Division for further investigation.
