Two French Players Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault
Two members of the French national rugby team, Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, have been arrested in Argentina following accusations of sexual assault against a woman, as reported by BBC Sport.
The incident occurred in Buenos Aires, where Jegou and Auradou were taken into custody on Monday. They are expected to be transferred to Mendoza for further legal proceedings.
Rafael Cuneo Libarona, their legal representative, has stated that both players vehemently deny the allegations.
Jegou, aged 21, and Auradou, aged 20, are currently part of the French squad touring South America. The team had recently stayed in Mendoza after securing a 28-13 victory over Argentina in a Test match.
Both players made their international debuts during this tour, showcasing promising careers in French rugby.
Reacting to the news, Florian Grill, president of the French Rugby Federation, expressed deep concern: “If the facts are proven true, they are incredibly serious. We will await the results of the investigation closely.”
