Twin Brothers Graduate with Identical First-Class Degrees, Top Their Department, Faculty at UI
Twin brothers from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Ibadan (UI) have made history by graduating with identical first-class degrees, each achieving a remarkable CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00. Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew were named the Overall Best Graduating Students of the 2023/2024 academic session, both in their department and in the Faculty of Technology.
The impressive accomplishment was shared by Matthias in a post on X on Wednesday. The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) also publicly acknowledged the brothers, celebrating not only their academic excellence but also their significant leadership roles. Matthias served as Honourable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council during the 11th Assembly, while Matthew was President of SEEEES-UI for the 2023/2024 academic session.
Throughout their academic journey, the brothers maintained an exceptional performance record from their first year to their final year. Their CGPAs remained strikingly similar, with slight variations across different levels. In their first year, Matthias had a CGPA of 3.84, while Matthew recorded 3.89. By their second year, both had improved, with Matthias reaching 3.92 and Matthew 3.94. In the third year, Matthias achieved 3.95, and Matthew recorded 3.93. They both maintained a high standard in their final year, concluding with the same CGPA of 3.94.
