Twin Brothers, Five Others Apprehended for Alleged Internet Fraud in Ibadan
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested twin brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Adio, along with five other suspects for their alleged involvement in internet fraud activities in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The arrests, carried out on Thursday, December 7, 2023, took place in the Apete and Apata areas of Ibadan, as revealed in a statement by Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC. The apprehension follows extensive surveillance and actionable intelligence pointing to the suspects’ participation in internet-related offenses.
The additional suspects detained alongside the Adio twins are Jeremiah Gabi, Dennis Gomina, Adepoju Noah Ibukun, Olabode Samson Opeyemi, and Adewumi Adeboye Ayomide.
The EFCC statement disclosed that the Oyo State Police Command handed over three individuals suspected of internet fraud to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC on the same day of the arrests. Subsequent investigations revealed that one of the three, Joseph Isaac Justice, was not involved in internet fraud and was promptly released without any bail conditions. The second individual, Ayoola Oluwatosin, was also cleared of involvement.
Among the seized items from the suspects were a Toyota Corolla car, an iPhone 11, two Samsung mobile phones, and other relevant materials. The suspects are slated to face court charges once the investigations are concluded.
