Trump’s Memecoin $TRUMP Crashes After Wife Melania Launches Rival Token $MELANIA

The value of $TRUMP, a memecoin associated with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, plummeted by 40% after the surprise launch of a competing token, $MELANIA, by his wife, Melania Trump. The announcement of $MELANIA was first posted on Melania’s social media and later retweeted by Trump himself.

Melania Trump promoted the new token with a post stating, “The Official Melania Meme is live! You can buy $MELANIA now.” Following the launch, the token’s value soared, reaching a fully diluted valuation of $5.69 billion, according to DEXscreener, though its price has remained highly volatile.

Of the total $MELANIA supply, 45% has been allocated for public distribution and liquidity on decentralized exchanges. The project treasury holds 20%, while 35% is designated for the team. Compared to $TRUMP, the new token allocates fewer tokens to insiders but follows a significantly shorter vesting schedule. Team tokens will vest over 13 months, with monthly distributions and a 30-day initial scale.

The launch of $MELANIA has diverted attention from Trump’s token, triggering a sharp decline in $TRUMP’s value. Its price plunged from $73 to $38, briefly rebounded to $52, and then dropped again to $42. Analysts report that $TRUMP’s market capitalization lost $7.5 billion within 10 minutes of $MELANIA’s release.

Despite the setback, $TRUMP still remains up 7,000% from its launch price last Friday, continuing to generate theoretical wealth for Trump, amounting to billions. With a current market capitalization of approximately $33 billion, $TRUMP remains a dominant force in the rapidly evolving meme coin sector.
