Trump Image to Appear on Special US Passport for Independence Anniversary

The United States is preparing to introduce a special edition passport featuring President Donald Trump as part of plans marking the country’s 250th independence anniversary.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the limited-run passport will be released in July under the government’s America250 programme. Officials say the document is intended to highlight the semiquincentennial of independence from Britain.

A design mock-up shared by the White House on X shows an interior page with an image of Trump overlaid on the text of the Declaration of Independence. The layout also includes the national flag and a gold-coloured signature. Another page features an illustration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the founding fathers.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the release will be part of a wider series of anniversary-related events planned for the year.

The commemorative passport will be issued in limited numbers, though standard passport designs will remain available through other channels.

Officials also said the document will include updated visual elements while maintaining existing security features.

The passport initiative sits alongside other anniversary projects already announced by the administration, including a commemorative gold coin and planned public events.

A White House spokesperson described the design as part of efforts to encourage public participation in the national anniversary programme, adding that it reflects a broader push to emphasise national identity during the celebrations.
