“Trance-mogrification” over Lagos PDP congress is an incurable disease – Muka Popoola

…………….“trance-mogrification” as I’ve used it here is my own creation; so you don’t disturb yourself travelling to heaven to look for the meaning…………..”

A Chieftain and Leader of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Agege Lagos State, Muka Popoola, has described in his own word the present situation within a particular section of the party in the state as “Trance-mogrification” a word he consciously drew out of the scenario of being in a trance.

His assertion was consequent upon news making the rounds on various social media platforms that the Lagos State PDP Congress has been cancelled by the National Working Committee of the Party and the purported cancellation has led to the extension of the tenure of the Caretaker Committee.

Muka Popoola stated that the news making the rounds is only the figment of the imagination of a selected few and described the situation amongst them as “an incurable malady that keeps them in a slumber even with their blurry eyes wide open.”

He further said that some elements who were dazed by the outcome of the first successfully conducted state congress are still hallucinating over the results and struggling desperately in their worried minds how they could possibly turn the day, a very bright day, into nightfall.

He however advised all forward-looking leaders and members of our party to come together to embrace peace and put the issues of the congresses behind.

He advised all and sundry to move on, stating that truly, there could be some misgivings over the different stages of the congresses, as it was a human exercise and as such, there can be no absolute perfection.

He further advised that success in 2023 should be on the minds of all and sundry in the party.

His statement read: “Progressive-minded members of the Lagos PDP must have been shocked reading the above post as it was being hawked on various PDP WhatsApp platforms yesterday.”

“It was really nothing to worry about. Why?”
Because the post makes no sense at all.”

“But with the hysterical manner that the pity party in the Lagos PDP celebrated the mischievously calculated disinformation, any unsuspecting member would think they had just won a jackpot.”

“I read the post too. I couldn’t immediately establish the original source of the post and it should be really irrelevant looking for the source; what was more important for me was the message, its content and the clear intent for throwing up such a lousy post.”

“You could have a cretinous messenger but once he’s successfully delivered a message, no matter how stupid and meaningless, his likes will find reason to believe it and dance for joy if the content pleases their idle hearts.”

“I will return to the content of the message later. But let’s first examine the intent and the unfortunate effect it has had on unsuspecting members who busied themselves all day sharing the post up and down.
What I could see is that some people are merely suffering from some kind of “trance-mogrification”, an incurable malady that keeps them in a slumber even with their blurry eyes wide open, over the outcome of the Lagos PDP congress.”

“Let me quickly give a caveat here: The word “trance-mogrification” as I’ve used it here is my own creation; so you don’t disturb yourself travelling to heaven to look for the meaning.’

“I have come with the word, which is like a tag-expression to the original word of transmogrification, because I could see that some elements who were dazed by the outcome of the first successfully conducted state congress are still hallucinating over the results and struggling desperately in their worried minds how they could possibly turn the day, a very bright day, into nightfall. The situation is that bad for them.”

“I believe I wouldn’t be the only one who has seen the morbid confusion streaming out of some shallow thinkers, all discerning minds too could see very clearly the consistent vain attempt since the conduct of the congress to discredit the exercise and possibly upturn the outcome with all manners of phony, somewhat fraudulent and deliberately misleading narratives.”

“The latest of their pranks is the one they just threw up yesterday and the clear intent was simply to muddy the waters further so it would seem that there were some displeasures among members of our great party in Lagos.”

“It will be good to tell the dust raisers that it is pure mischief looking for crisis over nothing, or deliberately instigating crisis where there was none.”

Now to the content of the post: “Lagos State PDP Congress is cancelled, Caretaker committee Tenure Extended”.

Is this correct and true?

“To the extent that the tenure of the Caretaker Committee is extended by 30 days, it is true.”

“But that the tenure extension means an express cancellation of the congress results is a “WHITE LIE”; very puerile thinking and infantile ambition.”

“Some questions need be asked here to clarify the issues.”

“Was there need to grant the Caretaker Committee a further extension after a successful congress has been held?”

“In the circumstance that the tenure of the committee had expired and the NWC was yet to meet and RATIFY the congress results, yes the extension was not only desirable or imperative, it was constitutionally a MUST DO.”

“You might not understand that the reason the extension was granted while the ratification was still pending before the NWC is that there mustn’t be a vacuum.”

“The more apparent question you should also have asked yourselves is, who would we have had to transfer power to the elected State Exco if the Caretaker Committee were to be allowed to go before the ratification is confirmed?”

“Definitely, that doesn’t fall within the purview of the duties of Wadata House.”

“So in your shallow interpretation you believe that since the Caretaker Committee has been granted an extension then that means an express cancellation of the congress results?”

“I have said it before, and I will say it again, that such an abortionist agenda can only flow from the mind of a virtual murderer.”

“It is jejune to be asking for the abortion of a pregnancy that’s already been delivered.”

“To those who want the congress results cancelled and their dead harmonisation list resurrected and given life, well, it’s so sooo sorry. What you’re asking for is that a child be killed so another can live. I ask that you think deeply if such can possibly be accepted in any human community.”

“I have also read those who want the congress results cancelled and another conducted. I do not know if Wadata House will consider squeezing such into the party’s current tight schedule as can be seen on the calendar for the journey towards the 2023 elections. How I wish it was possible.”

“I am, however, in sympathy with the advocates for another congress, if that will make them happy, especially the weeping gang of abortionists. But using the same delegates profile currently available for the Lagos PDP, I can’t wait to see how they will survive the kind of the hurricane that was wrought on them at the February 27 congress.”

“However, my fervent appeal to all forward-looking leaders and members of our party is to let us embrace peace and put the issues of the congresses behind us.
Some of us do have our misgivings over the different stages of the congresses and I admit that since it’s a human exercise there can be no absolute perfection, but this is the time to move on.”

“2023 is here at our backyard. Our members are putting in a huge amount of resources as they prospect to fly our party flags in the coming elections.”

“Those of us who are not contesting are also putting in our time, so unquantifiable, and our little cash in organising and promoting the party at our various wards and local governments. I beg of you, we must not allow all that to go to ruins.”

I wish you all a very blessed day.

MUKA POPOOLA Senior member, Agege PDP
