Tinubu to Nigerians: “We Are Entering the New Era of Prosperity I Promised”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Nigerian Muslims and the global Muslim community as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, using the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to national renewal and economic progress. In a statement released on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the President urged Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, devotion, and unity that define the Eid celebration, and to remain hopeful as the country moves toward what he called “a new era of renewed hope and prosperity.”

Acknowledging the deep spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, Tinubu described it as a time for reflection and gratitude, especially during the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. “This festival is not just about joy and celebration. It calls us to embrace its deeper meaning—sacrifice, selflessness, and devotion,” he said.

The President emphasized that beyond its religious meaning, Eid also delivers a civic message. “It reminds us of our responsibility to one another, to be resilient, tolerant, and committed to the progress of our beloved country,” he said, thanking Nigerians for their patience and support as his administration continues to roll out difficult but necessary reforms.

Reflecting on the nation’s journey since his administration took office, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges faced but insisted the country is now turning a corner. “The journey has not been easy, and some doubted our direction. But thanks to the resilience of both public and private sector leaders and the support of Nigerians, we are seeing results. The toughest days are behind us,” he declared.

He pointed to positive economic indicators and ongoing reforms as signs of progress, assuring citizens that while quick fixes are unrealistic, the foundations of the Nigerian economy are being rebuilt for long-term growth. “Our economic reforms are not about statistics alone—they are meant to transform lives and create sustainable development. We are on course,” Tinubu said.

Reiterating his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President said it was designed to bring lasting prosperity to all Nigerians. He called on citizens to show compassion and generosity during the festive period, regardless of religious or cultural background. “Let us care for one another’s well-being during this season and always,” he urged.

Tinubu also addressed the recent tragedy in Niger State, where flooding in Mokwa on May 28 led to loss of life and significant damage. He expressed condolences to the victims’ families and called for collective action to assist those affected. “Let us bring relief to the people of Mokwa and pray for the souls of those we lost,” he said.

The President concluded with an appeal for continued national unity and prayers for the country’s leaders, security personnel, and overall peace. “As we observe this sacred celebration, let us seek God’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria,” he said.
