Tinubu Requests National Assembly Approval for $6bn External Loans
President Bola Tinubu has asked the National Assembly to approve external borrowing totaling $6 billion.
The request was conveyed in two separate letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during plenary on Tuesday.
In one of the letters, Tinubu sought approval to secure a $5 billion loan from First Abu Dhabi Bank. In the second, he requested approval for a $1 billion export finance facility from Citibank in the United Kingdom.
No further details on the terms or intended use of the loans were disclosed during the session.
