Tinubu Reportedly Orders Removal of IGP Kayode Egbetokun; Successor Named – Report
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly ordered the removal of Kayode Egbetokun as Inspector General of Police, according to reports from Sahara Reporters.
Sources told Sahara Reporters that Tunji Disu, currently Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, is expected to take over.
One source said:
“Egbetokun was at the Villa yesterday and was told to prepare his handover notes. He will be handing over to Tunji Disu.”
Another source added:
“The President decided he should leave to focus on getting treatment for his kidney-related health issues. The scandals during his tenure were too many.”
Reports also indicate that some police officers reacted positively to the news:
“Police officers jubilated when they heard the news. The First Lady wanted him to remain, but the President was firm,” a source said.
At this time, the removal has not been independently confirmed by the Presidency or official police channels.
