Tinubu Reacts to Deadly Attack on Niger State Community, Gives Matching Orders
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State and directed security agencies to identify and arrest those responsible.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Tinubu ordered the military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to track the attackers and ensure the immediate rescue of residents abducted during the incident.
The directive followed the killing of at least 42 villagers in the community by terrorists believed to be fleeing Sokoto and Zamfara states after a United States air strike on Christmas Eve. Women and children were among those taken during the attack.
The president expressed condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Niger State.
“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must, therefore, face the full consequences of their criminal actions,” the statement said.
Tinubu stressed that all those involved in the attack, including anyone who provided support or assistance, would be held accountable.
He also assured residents of Niger State that security agencies had been instructed to step up operations in vulnerable communities, particularly areas near forests known to serve as hideouts for armed groups.
The president urged Nigerians to remain united and avoid rhetoric capable of deepening divisions or weakening national security.
“We must stand together as one people and confront these criminals collectively,” he said, adding that restoring peace and safety to affected communities remains a priority of his administration.
