Tinubu Overhauls NCDMB: Fresh Faces Take Charge in Major Reshuffle

President Bola Tinubu has ushered in a new era for the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) by appointing a fresh Governing Council and Management team. The NCDMB, responsible for ensuring a substantial 70% indigenous content and participation in the nation’s energy industry, will now be led by seasoned individuals carefully selected to fulfill this mandate.

Former Senator Heineken Lokpobiri assumes the role of Chairman and HMS, Petroleum Resources, heading the revamped board. Felix Omatsola Ogbe has been appointed as the Executive Secretary, tasked with pivotal responsibilities in guiding the agency.

The newly constituted team also includes Oritsemyiwa Eyesan, Gbenga Komolafe, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, Nicolas Odinuwe, Rapheal Samuel, Sadiq Abubakar, and Olorundare Sunday Thomas, each bringing their expertise to contribute to the development and monitoring of the country’s oil and gas industry.

Notably, no reasons were provided for the exit of the former board and management. In an official statement, presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale expressed President Tinubu’s confidence in the capabilities of this highly qualified team. The President emphasizes their crucial role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to achieve a 70% indigenous content and participation in the energy sector during the current administration.

The reshuffling aligns with Sections 71(1), 72, and 73 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act (2010). President Tinubu envisions that this strategic restructuring will significantly enhance indigenous industry participation, marking a substantial step forward in the nation’s energy landscape.
