Tinubu Appoints Jamiu Abiola as Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Affairs
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters, with the appointment taking effect from November 14, 2024. The announcement was made in a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Jamiu Abiola, the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola—renowned as the winner of Nigeria’s annulled 1993 presidential election—previously served as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties within the Office of the Vice-President. His new role is expected to build on this experience.
The statement emphasized that the appointment complies with the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended. President Tinubu encouraged Abiola to work in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leveraging his linguistic expertise and diplomatic skills to deliver on his new responsibilities.
