Three Labourers Found Dead in Lekki Makeshift Apartment

Tragedy struck in the Lekki Phase One area of Lagos State on Sunday after three male labourers were discovered dead in their makeshift apartment on Olateju Street.

The victims, whose identities have yet to be confirmed, reportedly worked as casual hands in the community, taking on daily jobs and errands. Residents say the men were attacked in their sleep by unidentified assailants who dragged them outside before hacking them to death with machetes.

A resident, Alfred (not his real name), described the scene:

“They lived in a makeshift structure on the premises of a building. On Sunday morning, one of their colleagues raised the alarm. When we got there, we found them lying in pools of blood with deep machete cuts.”

Another member of the Lekki Estate Residents Association said the incident has thrown the neighbourhood into panic, prompting tighter security measures.

The motive behind the killings remains unclear, though some residents suspect cult-related violence or personal disputes.

Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful as of press time.

This latest attack follows a similar incident in August, when a skit maker, identified simply as Austin, was hacked to death in Ibeju-Lekki in what was also believed to be a cult-related assault.
