“The North Is the Biggest Beneficiary of Tinubu’s Reforms” – Dankabo
Ahmed Dankabo, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 presidential campaign council, has declared that the northern region is reaping the greatest rewards from President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda. In a statement marking Democracy Day 2025, Dankabo described Tinubu’s electoral victory as a defining moment for Nigeria, saying it ushered in a bold and visionary leadership that is driving national renewal and progress.
Dankabo, who was actively involved in grassroots mobilisation during the 2023 campaign, said his early support for Tinubu was based on a firm belief in the president’s ability to transform the country. He praised Tinubu’s early economic decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate, calling them tough but essential actions that prevented a fiscal collapse. “But for President Tinubu’s bold and decisive leadership, Nigeria could have been on the brink of bankruptcy,” he said.
He pointed to a number of major infrastructure projects across the North, such as the Sokoto–Badagry and Calabar–Abuja superhighways, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Highway, the Kaduna–Kano Standard Gauge Railway, and the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline. According to him, these projects will unlock the region’s potential for investment, trade, and industrialisation.
Dankabo also highlighted Tinubu’s push for local government autonomy as a key driver of grassroots empowerment and better governance. On education, he cited the establishment of new federal universities in Kachia, Mubi, and Katsina, along with the upgrading of colleges to universities, as part of a strategic focus on building human capital in the North.
He welcomed the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, calling it a targeted initiative that directly supports the region’s economic realities. “This is a strategic initiative that speaks directly to the realities of our people, and it will empower herders, create jobs, and boost food security,” he said. He also noted the impact of dry-season farming initiatives, which he said are already increasing food output and job opportunities in the North.
Dankabo praised the establishment of the North West and North Central Development Commissions, saying they will address long-standing imbalances and promote inclusive growth. He argued that President Tinubu’s achievements have left critics with little ground to stand on. “President Tinubu has already outpaced his critics — defeating them even before the contest begins,” he said.
He urged the northern electorate to rally behind Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. “We must stand united behind this administration to ensure the full delivery of its promise to the North,” he said. “In 2027, the North must once again rise in overwhelming support and vote massively for President Tinubu to continue this path of transformation.”
