“The Nigerian Government Must Disarm the Radical Muslim Fulani Militants” — Rep. Moore
Rep. Riley M. Moore, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s Second District, has called on the Nigerian government to act decisively against Fulani militants following the mass abduction of students and teachers in Niger State.
Over 300 children and 12 teachers were kidnapped from St Mary’s Catholic School on Friday morning, when attackers stormed the campus, reportedly firing sporadically before taking the students. The incident has sparked widespread concern over security in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
Reacting to the tragedy on his official X account, Moore expressed shock and sadness. “We now know that more than 300 children and 12 teachers have been kidnapped from St Mary’s Catholic School in Nigeria,” he wrote. “As a father, seeing these attacks makes my stomach turn.”
He urged urgent action to end the threat posed by Fulani militants, adding, “The Nigerian government must disarm the radical Muslim Fulani militants terrorizing the Middle Belt.”
