“The Glorious End”: Popular Hairstylist Killed by Suspected Cultists in Lagos
A Lagos-based hairstylist and skit maker, identified as Austin Bature, has been brutally murdered by suspected cultists in the Lakowe community of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when the assailants reportedly stormed his residence, dragged him out, and hacked him to death. Witnesses alleged that his hand was also severed during the attack.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns, recalled hearing a disturbance that morning:
“There was some commotion early Thursday, but no one knew what it was. Later, we heard that a corpse was found in the community. When we got there, it was Austin. His hand was cut off. That’s when we realised the noise we heard was connected to his killing.”
Another resident revealed that Austin appeared to have foreseen his death, as he allegedly shared a cryptic farewell message on his **WhatsApp status** two days earlier.
“He was very popular, not just as a hairstylist but also as a skit maker. Some of his friends in entertainment said he knew something was coming. His post hinted at it,” the source added.
Austin was well known in Lagos for his creative hairstyling and had built connections in the entertainment industry. His sudden death has left friends, clients, and fans in shock.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
