The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division in Lagos, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Matilda Ngbaronye, has passed away.
Ngbaronye died late on Friday, October 24, 2025, around 11:30 p.m. during a medical procedure for fibroid treatment at the Mayriamville Medical Centre in Surulere, Lagos State.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the Command was deeply saddened by the loss. “The Lagos State Police Command deeply regrets to announce the passing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Festac Division, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye, who sadly passed away after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos State on Friday, October 24, 2025,” Adebisi said.
She described Ngbaronye as a disciplined and dedicated officer who served with professionalism and integrity throughout her career. “Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty. Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served,” Adebisi added.
