TCN Denies Blackout Claims Amidst Nationwide Strike
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) vehemently denies recent online reports suggesting a looming national blackout amidst the ongoing nationwide labor strike. The TCN’s management issued a statement on Tuesday, condemning the alleged remarks made by its Head of Public Affairs as false and misleading.
The company labeled the report as “mischievous and baseless,” emphasizing that the Head of Public Affairs did not make any such statement. In response, TCN took to social media, particularly Twitter, to clarify its position and discredit the misleading information.
FALSE PUBLICATION BY DAILY POST ON NATIONAL BLACKOUT
The Transmission Company of Nigeria hereby states that the publication by Daily Post alleging that the Head of Public Affairs of TCN said that there will be a national blackout is false and totally misleading.
The TCN assured the public that the nation’s grid remains “intact and supplying bulk electricity to distribution load centers nationwide.” According to the statement, as of the time of issuance, the TCN National Control Centre Osogbo, responsible for overseeing bulk power transmission nationwide, is actively operational.
The company urged media outlets to report responsibly, emphasizing the importance of avoiding statements that could incite panic. TCN remains committed to providing accurate information and maintaining the stability of the national power grid during these challenging times.
