Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Granted Asylum in Russia After Fleeing Damascus

 

 

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who fled the country following the fall of Damascus to rebel forces, has reportedly been granted asylum in Russia. Assad and his family arrived in Moscow yesterday after escaping Syria on a Russian aircraft.

 

Details of Assad’s destination were initially unclear, as the plane disappeared from radar shortly after departure. However, a Russian news agency later reported that Assad had reached Moscow, citing sources within the Kremlin. The BBC echoed these claims but noted it could not independently verify the information.
