A group of armed men suspected to be herdsmen attacked a commercial vehicle traveling from Abuja to Otukpo late Sunday night, killing the driver and abducting all passengers on board. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. along the Otukpo-Adoka road in Benue State.
According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen emerged from hiding and opened fire on the vehicle as it approached, striking the driver. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into nearby bushes, after which the attackers forcibly took all the passengers and disappeared into the darkness. The driver, who was hit by gunfire, died at the scene. He has since been identified as a native of Adoka, and his body has been recovered and transported to his hometown.
Security personnel have responded to the scene and are currently conducting a search operation in the area to locate the abducted passengers and apprehend the attackers.
