Suspected Cultists Gun Down Several Individuals in Awka on Easter Sunday
An Easter celebration turned tragic in Anambra State as suspected cultists unleashed violence, resulting in multiple casualties. The incident occurred at Opposite Dike Park, near the Eke Awka Market, in Awka, the state capital, where the assailants reportedly launched their attack.
Eyewitnesses report that the violence erupted during the noon hours of Sunday, escalating to the nearby Obinagu village, where additional casualties were reported. Among the victims was Izuu Nwofor, a staff member of the Anambra State Judiciary, who was tragically caught in the crossfire while going about his daily activities.
A video circulating on social media captures the aftermath of the attack, depicting the bodies of two victims lying in the Eke Awka area. One victim is seen in agony, struggling for life beside his fallen motorcycle, as bystanders flee in fear for their safety.
Authorities are yet to confirm the total number of casualties from the incident, which marks a distressing turn of events during the Easter festivities.
