“Stop Dating Broke Boys Hoping They Will Compensate You With Marriage” — Nigerian Lady Advises Women
A Nigerian woman, Nnenna Okoronkwo, has stirred conversation online after advising women to stop dating broke men with the expectation that marriage will be their reward. In a Facebook post on October 1, she urged women to raise their standards, stressing that loyalty from financially unstable men is often not genuine but simply all they have to offer.
“Stop dating broke boys hoping that they will compensate you with marriage,” she wrote, adding that women should not deceive themselves with prayers for a man’s financial breakthrough. She argued that being in relationships with men who have little ambition only enables them to remain in that state, likening it to “babysitting broke boys.”
Okoronkwo dismissed the idea of enduring financial struggle in relationships, mocking the popular phrase “we will manage,” and described it as settling for less. Instead, she encouraged women to focus on building their own wealth so they can attract responsible men rather than, in her words, “lazy layabouts.”
She concluded her post with a pointed remark to those who might feel offended, telling them to focus on making money instead of defending unproductive relationships.
