Stop Assigning Our Cases to These Three Abuja Judges, PDP Urges Chief Judge
The Peoples Democratic Party has asked the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to stop assigning its cases to three Abuja-based judges, citing what it described as an unusual pattern in recent case allocations.
In a letter dated November 19, 2025 and signed by National Secretary Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, the party informed Chief Judge John Terhemba Tsoho that matters involving the PDP have, for years, repeatedly landed before Justices James Omotosho, Peter Odo Lifu and Abdulmalik. The party noted that although the Abuja Division has 12 judges, only these three have been handling virtually all suits filed by or against the PDP.
According to the letter, several members have voiced frustration to the newly elected leadership of the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee, arguing that the trend has created doubts among party stakeholders. The PDP said the courts presided over by the three judges have become widely viewed as “courts of particular concern” whenever the party’s interests are involved.
The party stressed the importance of maintaining public confidence in the judicial process, saying justice must be seen to be fair as well as delivered. It acknowledged the integrity of the judiciary and commended the Federal High Court under Justice Tsoho for its overall record of impartiality.
