South African Mayor Takes Sick Leave After S€xtape Leaks in Her Party WhatsApp Group
Norah Mahlangu, the mayor of Tswaing Local Municipality in North West, has taken a one-month special leave following the leak of an explicit video in a WhatsApp group associated with her political party.
The video, which reportedly shows Mahlangu undressing and later engaging in private acts, was widely circulated among members of the African National Congress (ANC) in the province. The leak has sparked controversy and placed Mahlangu under intense public scrutiny.
Sources close to the matter reveal that Mahlangu has been struggling with emotional distress since the incident. According to reports, she last appeared in public at the funeral of two municipal workers who tragically lost their lives while attempting to unblock a drainage system in Agisanang township. During the service, she called for a formal investigation into their deaths.
Tswaing Speaker Sam Letlakane confirmed that Mahlangu is deeply affected by the situation and required time away from her official duties to recover.
While the exact circumstances surrounding the leak remain unclear, speculation suggests that the video was initially intended for a private recipient. Reports indicate that the recipient may have attempted to extort money from Mahlangu, and after she allegedly refused, the video was leaked to political rivals, possibly to undermine her standing ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
