Soludo Has Not Declared Intent to Seek Second Term, But I Will Persuade Him to Run – Law Mefor
In a recent statement, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, clarified that Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has not declared his intention to seek a second term in office. This announcement comes amidst growing speculation regarding the governor’s potential candidacy for reelection.
Speaking with journalists at his office on Wednesday, Mefor emphasized that while Soludo has not formally announced his plans, there is considerable support for him to run due to his impressive track record in governance. “Governor Soludo is currently focused on implementing policies that will advance the state’s development,” he stated.
Mefor, who expressed his personal commitment to persuading Soludo to run, highlighted that all indicators favor the governor’s reelection bid. He noted that Soludo hails from Anambra South, aligning with the state’s zoning formula that entitles incumbents to a second term.
“If he chooses to contest, I am confident he will win,” Mefor asserted, adding that Soludo’s administration has demonstrated significant achievements that resonate with the people of Anambra. He believes that the governor’s results-oriented approach will appeal to voters, as Soludo has consistently delivered on his promises.
Addressing concerns about potential challengers, Mefor remarked, “Those who claim they will contest against him are the same individuals he defeated in previous elections. Given his record of accomplishments, there is no reason to believe he wouldn’t succeed again.”
Mefor concluded by emphasizing Soludo’s solid foundation of tangible achievements, suggesting that the governor’s scorecard will be instrumental in securing reelection if he decides to run.
