Sokoto State: Six People Dead in Bomb Explosion During Eid Festivities
Sokoto State Police have confirmed that six people lost their lives following a bomb explosion in Gwabro village, located in the Tangaza Local Government Area, on Sunday, June 8. The police spokesperson, Ahmad Rufai, verified the fatalities but did not provide further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the blast, which coincided with the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Eyewitness Hashimu reported that the explosion occurred in the afternoon while families were traveling between villages to visit relatives and friends, a customary practice during Eid festivities.
Garzali Raka, an aide to the Tangaza Local Government Chairman, indicated that the deceased individuals have been buried according to Islamic customs. Local sources suggest that the explosive device may have been planted by the Lakurawa terrorists, who have reportedly been terrorizing residents in the Tangaza and Gudu local councils.
Community members expressed concerns over ongoing violence from the Lakurawa group, urging the government to take decisive action to restore peace and protect communal harmony in the affected areas.
