Snoop Dogg: ‘I’m Scared to Go to the Movies’ as Hollywood Is ‘Forcing LGBTQ+ Storylines’ Into Kids’ Films

Snoop Dogg has spoken out against what he sees as Hollywood “forcing” LGBTQ+ storylines into children’s films, saying it has left him reluctant to take his grandson to the cinema.

Appearing on the It’s Giving podcast, the 53-year-old rapper recalled being unsettled while watching Pixar’s 2022 release Lightyear. The film, a Toy Story spin-off, features character Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba) in a same-sex relationship with her partner Kiko, with a sequence showing them marrying and raising a child.

“My grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman,’” Snoop said. “I didn’t come in for this. I just came to watch the movie.”

The rapper admitted he was caught off guard by his grandson’s questions. “It f—– me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of something I don’t have an answer for,” he said.

Snoop’s remarks have drawn criticism from LGBTQ+ supporters, with some calling for him to be removed as the headline act for the upcoming Australian Football League Grand Final.

The rapper, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has faced backlash before for comments seen as homophobic and transphobic, including remarks directed at Caitlyn Jenner and the use of slurs in a 2014 social media post.
