“Six Months’ Salary in the UK Was More Than All My Seven Years’ Salary in Nigeria” – Nigerian Doctor
A Nigerian medical doctor, Tolu Binutu, has revealed that his salary for just six months in the United Kingdom surpassed the total earnings he made over seven years working in Nigeria.
Binutu shared the revelation on Friday while encouraging a Nigerian lawyer who expressed frustration over being unable to afford rent and secure her own place.
He recounted his personal journey, saying he returned home to live with his parents after medical school and stayed with them for seven years until he was nearly 30. During that period, he juggled multiple jobs, sometimes working two at a time, and saved diligently to take exams and move abroad.
“Six months’ salary in the UK was more than all my seven years’ salary in Nigeria combined. It’s not too late for you. Not by a mile,” he wrote, offering motivation to others striving for better opportunities abroad.
