Six final-year students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have died in a road accident while travelling to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, to sit for their final examinations.
The victims were 500-level students in the institution’s Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme. They were reportedly on their way to campus for the final phase of their academic programme when the crash occurred.
One of the deceased was said to be heavily pregnant at the time of the accident, a development that has intensified the grief among colleagues and family members.
Details surrounding the cause of the crash were still unclear as of press time. Authorities have deposited the bodies in a mortuary pending autopsy and further directives.
