Shock in Abuja Community as Young Man Allegedly Commits Suicide
Residents of Kagini in the Federal Capital Territory were thrown into shock on Friday following the alleged suicide of a young man identified simply as IK. The incident, which reportedly happened in the early hours of the day, drew public attention after a video surfaced on the verified Facebook page of Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
In the video, friends and neighbours of the deceased could be seen in disbelief, lamenting over the sudden loss and questioning what might have led IK to take his life. While some mourners suggested he may have been battling personal struggles, others raised suspicions of foul play and demanded clarity on the stool allegedly linked to the incident.
As at press time, the FCT Police Command had not released an official statement. Efforts to reach the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful as calls and messages went unanswered. However, a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding IK’s death.
