Shock as “Religious” Businessman Identified Among Accomplices of Enugu Native Doctor in Ritual Killing Case

Nigerians are reeling with shock following the revelation of one of the alleged accomplices arrested in connection with a high-profile kidnapping and ritual killing case involving a native doctor in Enugu State. Among those arrested is Uche Kingsley Agumba, a businessman known for selling building and furniture materials in Aba and Port Harcourt, and for frequently posting religious content on Facebook.

The case first came to light on May 26, when a 13-year-old girl was kidnapped while walking to the farm with her father. Her cries the following day led locals to the compound of the suspect, Obi Obieze—also known by aliases including Obu Onyeka, Ezeani, and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show.” There, the teenage girl was found tied up and reportedly being prepared for a ritual.

Further investigation uncovered the bodies of other victims, including a heavily pregnant woman, buried in a soakaway pit within the premises. Outraged residents set fire to the native doctor’s house and cars, while he initially fled the scene. Authorities have since captured him as he attempted to escape the country.

The police confirmed the arrest of three male accomplices: Uche Kingsley Agumba, 33; Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi, 36; and Ejike Odinwankpa, 38.

Uche Kingsley’s alleged involvement has particularly stunned residents of the South-East who recognized him as a devoted Christian. Described by acquaintances as a regular churchgoer who travelled from Aba to Enugu for religious programs, Kingsley also adorned his business, vehicles, and home with church stickers, reinforcing his image as a man of faith.

His Facebook page, now flooded with comments from stunned Nigerians, contains numerous posts promoting his building material business as well as religious quotes and messages. The disturbing contrast between his public image and the serious allegations against him has deepened the public’s sense of disbelief and betrayal.
