Shock as Bayelsa APC Campaign Media Director Reportedly Dies in Boat Mishap

Mr. Terry Tukuwei, the Director of Media for the Bayelsa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, has gone missing for over 10 hours following a devastating boat mishap during the party’s governorship campaign.

Eyewitnesses recount the fateful incident which occurred at approximately 1 pm on Wednesday as Mr. Tukuwei, accompanied by two other journalists, embarked on a journey from Nembe Town to Okoroba Community in the Nembe Local Government Area. They were aboard a speedboat carrying the campaign’s medical team. Tragedy struck when the boat lost control due to turbulent waves along the Nembe Creek leading to Okoroba, ultimately capsizing.

An anonymous journalist who was part of the ill-fated trip provided some insight into the ordeal. He revealed that multiple speedboats, including those carrying journalists, protocol personnel, security, and medical teams, had left Nembe for Okoroba as an advance team to prepare for the arrival of the APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva. The delay in the governorship candidate’s arrival led the crew to believe he had a brief stop on his journey, only to later receive the devastating news that the boat carrying Mr. Tukuwei had capsized, and he remained unaccounted for.

According to the anonymous source, all passengers on the speedboat were equipped with life jackets. However, it is believed that Mr. Tukuwei’s life jacket was too small, and he failed to secure it properly, potentially leading to his tragic drowning. In a cruel twist of fate, all other occupants of the ill-fated boat were rescued by the convoy of the governorship candidate, leaving the media director’s fate uncertain.
