“She Was Too Perfect for Me to Keep Up,” Pastor Says as He Announces Separation from Wife
Ugandan preacher Jonathan Nalebo has sparked widespread conversation online after revealing he and his wife, Enid Mirembe, have ended their marriage of over seven years. The announcement, made via Facebook on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, has drawn both surprise and sympathy from followers who admired the couple’s seemingly ideal relationship.
In his heartfelt message, Nalebo described the split as a mutual decision made in pursuit of peace, healing, and the well-being of both parties. He openly admitted his shortcomings in honoring Enid’s values, describing her as “too perfect” for him to keep up with.
“Enid Mirembe is an incredible woman. In many ways, she was too perfect for me to keep up with, and I mishandled the treasure she was,” Nalebo wrote. “I failed to fully honor the values she carried so gracefully in every area of life.”
He expressed deep regret and took responsibility for the breakdown of the marriage, acknowledging the spiritual challenges leaders face and how vulnerability can lead to division. Emphasizing the importance of humility and prayer, he reflected on how the pressures of ministry can impact personal life when vigilance is lost.
Nalebo affirmed that their children are safe and will remain in the custody of their mother, whom he praised for her strength and wisdom as a parent. He also conveyed his sincere hope that Enid finds a love that honors and cherishes her fully.
The preacher concluded by stating that he is turning his focus back to his faith, seeking personal growth and healing in Christ. Citing Psalm 34:18, he wrote, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The announcement has prompted an outpouring of reactions online, with many commending his honesty and vulnerability in such a personal matter.
