Commissioner of Police in Taraba State, David Iloyonomon, disclosed that the police responded swiftly to the situation, dispatching officers to the area. During their patrol, the officers discovered seven bodies in the bush, amidst efforts to control the crisis between members of the Ichen and Tiv ethnic groups.

The unrest began when Ichen youths reported the disappearance of a pastor and a church member while on their way to the church.
