“Sending Blord to prison is not victory” — Sowore Tells VDN
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of social media figure Omoyele Sowore after he criticised the detention of Blord, saying the development should not be treated as a win for legal advocacy or public campaigns.
The court had earlier ordered that Blord be held at Kuje Correctional Centre for 26 days following allegations including impersonation of VeryDarkMan, forgery, false endorsement, invasion of privacy, and identity theft. The ruling was delivered on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
In a Facebook post shortly after the remand order, Sowore questioned the handling of the case and the broader implications of celebrating detention outcomes. He argued that legal success should be measured by the strength of arguments presented, not by how effectively a lawyer secures a custodial order.
He also mentioned that he had contacted his lawyer, Marshal D. F. Abubakar, advising him to withdraw from involvement in the matter. According to him, the case risks encouraging what he described as misuse of legal processes against individuals.
Sowore further maintained that punishment should not be treated as the goal of justice, adding that he would push for steps aimed at discontinuing the case and securing Blord’s release.
